How to run a successful business from overseas

Running a U.S. Business From Belgium: Why Taking Care of Employees Matters

Antiques & Vintage Texas has been operated from Belgium for more than 10 years while continuing to do business in the United States.

That would not be possible without good employees.

When you are managing a company from thousands of miles away, you quickly learn that employees are not just there to complete tasks. They are the people representing the business every day.

They speak with customers, handle inventory, solve problems, manage deliveries, and make decisions when the owner is not physically there.

Because of that, taking care of employees has always been extremely important to us.

Good employees should feel respected, trusted, and appreciated.

When people know their work matters, they are more likely to take pride in what they do. When they are treated fairly and given responsibility, they begin to care about the business as more than just a place where they collect a paycheck.

That trust goes both ways.

Running a business remotely means you cannot watch every decision or control every situation. You have to rely on the people working inside the business.

That makes hiring the right people important, but keeping those people is just as important.

Employees who have been with a company for years understand the customers, products, standards, and daily operations better than anyone. That experience is incredibly valuable.

Businesses sometimes spend so much time worrying about sales, marketing, and growth that they forget about the people actually making those things possible.

We have learned that taking care of employees is not separate from running a successful business.

It is part of it.

For more than a decade, our employees have helped Antiques & Vintage Texas operate successfully while ownership has been based in Belgium.

The distance has taught us an important lesson:

If you take care of good employees, give them trust, and treat them with respect, they will help take care of the business.

That has been one of the most important reasons Antiques & Vintage Texas continues to operate successfully today.
