Transporting antique architectural pieces requires more care than shipping ordinary furniture or modern building materials.
Over the years, we have shipped antique doors as far away as Australia. Currently, Antiques & Vintage Texas ships within the continental United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii.
Shipping timeframes depend on the customer’s location, the size of the order, and the type of door being transported.
A smaller solid-wood door set may be suitable for shipment through UPS, depending on its measurements, weight, and condition. Larger doors, double-door sets, or pieces containing glass or metal usually require a dedicated driver.
Glass and decorative metalwork create additional transportation concerns. These materials can be damaged by vibration, pressure, impacts, or improper handling. For that reason, they generally need to be transported inside a vehicle or enclosed trailer rather than passed through a standard parcel network.
We have established relationships with shipping partners in many regions of the country. Several of these drivers have worked with us for years and understand how to handle antique doors properly.
When we do not have a dedicated shipping partner available in a customer’s region, delivery may require additional time. We may need to locate and schedule a qualified driver who can safely complete the route.
We do not treat this as an area where shortcuts are acceptable.
All of our drivers use Sprinter vans or enclosed trailers. Doors are not thrown over the tailgate of a pickup truck, left exposed to weather, or transported without proper protection. We work only with experienced professionals who understand that they are moving irreplaceable antique pieces.
Our priority is simple: the door should arrive in the same condition in which it was purchased.
That means coordinating the correct transportation method, protecting the piece during loading and transit, and avoiding unnecessary transfers between vehicles or shipping facilities whenever possible.
Dedicated delivery can take longer than ordinary parcel shipping, but antique doors are not ordinary packages. Careful transportation protects both the customer’s investment and the historical piece itself.
